Provence Ancienne Aged Solid Oak Wood Flooring™

When did it all begin? These French techniques that change the composition of oak floors into 18th century wood planks? Is it no surprise that the owner of Pavé Tile, Wood & Stone, Inc. - a Frenchman by birth - growing up in the South of France, has mastered this technical know-how? The matte finish, the subtle variations in hue, and 14 colors all encased in an extremely durable non-toxic finish is not a dream. It is just possibilities. Scroll down and read further about Francois' technique, enlarge the photos to view the color range and texture of the aged oak planks and make a design appointment at Pavé to view their installations...and build out your dream home. Testimonial October 6, 2015: " François, The floor is installed. It looks fantastic, at least as good as promised. I have not seen its like in Oklahoma City. Our contractor, Angie, made a great choice when she picked your company and Josh gave us an excellent installation. It's refreshing and inspiring to see unqiue and artistic craftsmanship like yours in these modern, cookie-cutter times. Someone commented that the floor has an older feel to it even though it is obviously brand new. It definitely has a warm, inviting feel. The warm colors and shading in the wood grain are wonderful. It even feels good to walk on - makes you want to take your shoes off. Thank you so much for our beautiful floors. Best wishes to you and yours, Tripp S."

What is Provence Ancienne Aged Oak Wood Flooring? Why is this wood floor unique?

Aging wood floors at Pavé is a speciality.  The uniqueness of this collection comes from François himself and the years of experience, artistry, discipline and technical knowledge of his craft.  Using French techniques to change the composition of the wood, François has refined and discovered further steps and through this long antiquing process, 18th century-like wood planks are achieved.

Specifications and further information:

One can order the Provence Ancienne Aged Oak Flooring Collection from among 14 color ways and specialized 7" to 12" wide planks.  This collection is available in solid American White Oak planks, solid French oak planks or European Engineered oak planks. Although rustic in nature, the surface is a smooth matte finish that is comfortable to walk on and easy to clean.  Provence Ancienne has three coats of water based varnish that is an extremely durable and a non-toxic finish.  This unique varnish has excellent transparency with a non-milky color film and a high chemical and mechanical resistance, that is also odorless and ecological. These are 100% pre-finished aged oak floors and thus, there is no need to apply any products after installation.

Colors and their variations

Due to the ever changing nature of the tannins in oak flooring, there will be variations in hue depending on the season and the provenance of the oak planks. Provence Ancienne is grouped in 5 colors ways: Grays, Cognac Grays, Cognacs, Browns and Black.  Within each color way, there are warm and cool hues that is achieved through precise technique of the antiquing process.  To understood these floors, please enlarge the photos and read the text beneath describing each color way.  We do recommend a visit to Pavé's by-appointment showroom where you can see first hand the installations of these magnificent bespoke floors.
