Les Saintes-Maries-de-la-Mer is the capital of the Camargue in the south of France. The town is situated in the Rhone river delta where lives the Camargue horse, an ancient breed of horse indigenous to this area.  Its origins remain relatively unknown, although it is generally considered one of the oldest breeds of horses in the world.  Ranchers have raised horses unique to the Camargue for centuries.  We salvaged this French reclaimed terra cotta tile lot from a dilapidated horse barn in this region.  The colors of this terra cotta tile mirror the terra cotta roofing tiles of this region - soft and glorious - of peach, blush and clay colors.  It's patina is extraordinary, where the wear on this centuries old tile received surely, many a hoof print.  This is a treasured lot - filled with stories of earth, water and horses, from one of the most beautiful regions in the South of France.

Recommended Sealer after Installation:  Akemi Stone Impregnation for French Reclaimed Terra Cotta Tile Flooring
